Kevin Danso ‘already done at Tottenham’ as new injury development emerges

Kevin Danso could be set to end his spell at Tottenham despite joining in the winter window.

The Austria international made a last gasp move to North London from Lens and has gone on to be a well-liked figure in N17.

The 26-year-old has managed to plug a gap in Ange Postecoglou’s side while he deals with various injury blows to his backline.

With that being said, his spell in the Lilywhites’ side could be coming to an end at Spurs after a fresh injury update emerged from Hotspur way.

Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven set for injury return

It is fair to say that even as a new signing, the former Southampton man is destined to lose his place when Postecoglou welcomes his regular first-team players back into the side.

This isn’t necessarily to do with any negativity surrounding Danso but says more about the quality of his competition at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Injuries have meant that the centre-back has been treated to regular minutes since coming in but that is destined to change in the coming days and weeks.

This comes as both Romero and van de Ven look set to make their long-awaited return from injury in the squad against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday (6 March).

This will be music to the Lilywhites faithful’s ears who have been dreaming of the duo’s return regularly during their slide down the Premier League table.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Postecoglou welcomes the defensive pair back and how that negatively impacts the progress of stand-ins Archie Gray and Danso.

Danso could seek instant exit at Tottenham

When van de Ven and Romero make their return to playing action, there is no doubt, they should be straight back into the starting 11.

This won’t come as a surprise to anyone in N17 but may cause plenty of frustration for the winter addition, Danso, who will want to maintain his starting role.

Ultimately, the Austrian has given up regular minutes in Ligue 1 and in Europe with Lens to join Spurs but could now find himself third or fourth in the pecking order.

This is unlikely to go down well and could result in a summer exit, in the same window as joining on a permanent basis.
