Ange Postecoglou could lose his job at Tottenham this summer, and James Maddison is likely to benefit from that.

Given the failures at Tottenham this season, the spotlight has been focused primarily on the future of Ange Postecoglou, who remains under serious threat.

His job could hinge on their ability to win the Europa League and secure European football for the new campaign, though there will be serious question marks as to their credibility to achieve that based on their inability to showcase consistency.

Despite those shortcomings, Maddison has been in and out of the team under the Australian, and he is likely to be waiting for Daniel Levy to make a decision.

Postecoglou ‘faces the sack’ regardless of Europa League success

The Europa League is there for the taking for Tottenham, though they will need to be at their best to have any chance of winning the competition.

Many would anticipate Postecoglou’s tenure being extended if Spurs are to win, but John Wenham recently told Tottenham News that the “writing is on the wall” and that Postecoglou will be sacked regardless of what happens.

Given the frustration period Maddison has had under Postecoglou, he will be delighted that his nightmare season could be coming to an end with change likely only a few months away.

A new manager could be exactly what Maddison needs to get back to his best, but also to afford him more gametime in what has been a campaign full of struggle for the Englishman.

Postecoglou’s time is wearing thin at Tottenham

Postecoglou deserves to be sacked at Tottenham, and there will be very few people who can produce a credible argument against that.

Injuries have hampered the season to some extent, but his unwillingness to make changes has proven far more costly than the absence of players.

If Spurs make a change, success can be achieved next season, though much of that will hinge on the transfer business Tottenham can do in the summer.
