Cristian Romero ‘exit sealed’ as Tottenham set for new transfer negotiations
Cristian Romero could soon be on his way out of Tottenham as negotiations are set to be open for a new centre-back.
The Argentina international has been an important player for the North London outfit since his move from Atalanta in 2021, but his consistent injury issues have been frustrating.
Romero is still attracting interest at Spurs, and it may be the right time for them to cash in on the defender.
Ange Postecoglou’s struggles in the Premier League this season have largely been down to the fitness crisis in the backline, which must be addressed next summer.

Tottenham to sell Romero to fund new centre-back transfer
Spurs signed Kevin Danso from Lens in the winter transfer window, but the Austria centre-back’s arrival hasn’t changed their prospects much.
Micky van de Ven is another defender who has been on the sidelines for a considerable period in the current campaign, forcing Postecoglou to rely on Archie Gray.
Competition (2024/25) | Appearances |

Europa League | 1 |
Carabao Cup | 1 |
The Australian manager was forced to partner the former Leeds United youngster with Radu Dragusin before the Romanian was also ruled out with an injury.
Considering the host of problems the former Celtic boss has faced with his defensive setup this season, it isn’t surprising to see the North London outfit already wanting to make an approach for a new centre-back.

Marc Guehi negotiations to take place between Spurs and Crystal Palace
Tottenham are interested in Marc Guehi and are set to open negotiations to sign Crystal Palace centre-back, according to CaughtOffside.
The news outlet reports (11 March) that the Lilywhites remain interested in the 24-year-old after failing to get him in the winter transfer window.
Guehi wants to leave the Eagles this summer and is considering requesting a contract until 2030 from interested clubs.
Spurs will have several centre-backs in their ranks if they complete the England international’s signing in the coming months.
The 24-year-old’s addition to the North London outfit’s squad seems necessary, considering Romero and Van de Ven’s consistent fitness worries.
The Argentine World Cup winners’ exit would arguably be the right decision to balance out the squad and provide funds to sign Guehi.
