Ange Postecoglou risks sack after new Tottenham transfer development

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou could be sacked.

The Lilywhites’ defence has been decimated by numerous injuries this season with the likes of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Destiny Udogie missing significant periods of time.

Spurs’ campaign is reliant on success in the Europa League with the Premier League season basically written off and elimination from both domestic cups.

Planning for the next season has already begun but a new update on the North London outfit’s recruitment plans could spell disaster for the Australian.

A report from Turkish outlet Takvim (2 March) claims that the Lilywhites are set to send scouts to watch Fenerbache defender Yusuf Akcicek in the match against Antalyaspor.

The report states that the 19-year-old, who has featured 13 times for the Istanbul-based outfit this season is also attracting interest from the likes of Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen.

The Turkey Under-19 international is under contract until 2028 with the side managed by former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho.

Ange Postecoglou needs world-class recruits at Tottenham

It is all well and good signing players for the future but Tottenham needs world-class talent in their squad immediately.

Postecoglou’s side is crying out for top-quality signings to drag them out of the mess that they find themselves in.

Signing another youngster would only serve to frustrate the already angry fanbase even more and would likely irritate the Australian too, given that he has had to rely on youth so much this campaign.

The likes of Lucas Bergvall, Mikey Moore and Archie Gray have shown glimpses of the talent that they possess when they have been shoehorned into the side but having to rely on them is one of the main reasons why the Lilywhites are in this position.

Failure to back Postecoglou properly in the summer transfer window would be negligent of Daniel Levy and would likely lead to even bigger protests against the way that he runs the club and further turmoil on the pitch.

The former Celtic man could find himself without a job if the business is not up to scratch and signing Akcicek is not going to solve Spurs’ problems.
