Dominic Solanke has recently returned from an injury, and Tottenham have now made a fresh announcement about the striker.

Solanke returned from a near-two month layoff as Spurs were beaten 1-0 by AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of their last-16 UEFA Europa League tie at the AFAS Stadion on Thursday 6 March.

The striker suffered a knock and was forced off toward the end of the match, sparking fresh injury fears. However, he was still able to complete 90 minutes as Spurs drew 2-2 with his former side Bournemouth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (9 March).

And Solanke would once again start and play an entire 90 minutes, providing two assists as Ange Postecoglou's side beat AZ Alkmaar 3-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (13 March) to advance to the last eight of the Europa League.

Off the back of these two starts, a fresh announcement has now been made about Solanke.

Tottenham striker Solanke learns England fate

Solanke impressed with his display against AZ Alkmaar, twice setting up Wilson Odobert on course to a huge victory for Postecoglou and his players.

However, the Australian, who remains under pressure at Tottenham, will now need to keep his fingers crossed that the 27-year-old doesn't pick up a fresh injury in the coming weeks.

That is because, as announced by Spurs on Friday (14 March), Thomas Tuchel has selected Solanke as part of his England squad for the upcoming March international break.

The Three Lions will begin their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign this month, hosting Albania on Friday (21 March) and Latvia on Monday 24 March.

Solanke has a point to prove to Tuchel

Solanke has enjoyed a largely positive debut season in North London, despite Spurs' struggles.

His form has seen him return to the England setup for the first time in seven years, and he will be delighted that Tuchel has picked him as part of his first squad.

However, now he must prove to the German why he should remain in that squad.
