Tottenham gem Archie Gray was targeted by Brentford fans on Sunday.

Ange Postecoglou's side arrived at the Gtech Community Stadium on 2 February without any recognised centre-backs in the squad - with the Spurs boss sharing a fresh injury update on Micky van de Ven.

As a result, Gray continued to fill in at the heart of defence for the Premier League clash. However, the 18-year-old wasn't given an easy time by the home support.

As per Nizaar Kinsella [via BBC Sport, 2:08 pm, 2 February], Gray was booed by the Brentford faithful who haven't forgotten about the youngster's decision to turn down a move to the Bees after completing the first part of his medical in West London.

And the Brentford fans could also be heard chanting, "You should have signed for a big club".

At the time, Gray might have felt as though picking Spurs over Brentford was a no-brainer, considering the difference in size between the two clubs.

However, with the Bees a fair few places above Tottenham in the Premier League, the home fans were always going to take the chance to aim a few digs at Gray.

Nonetheless, the midfielder-turned-defender will no doubt feel as though he made the right choice as he continues to make impressive progress in North London.

Gray has started the majority of Spurs' matches this season, and while this has mostly been due to the number of players out injured, Postecoglou looks as though he might have a hard time dropping the former Leeds man, even when he gets his players back.

And mocking chants from opposition fans will only help Gray's football education as he learns to get used to life in the Premier League.
