Bryan King claims Tottenham will be delighted after selling Oliver Skipp to Leicester City for £20million.

The ex-Spurs scout believes the midfielder was only worth around £8million.

Tottenham confirmed Skipp had joined Leicester City via the club's official website on Monday (19 August).

As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (19 August), the transfer agreement is worth £20million plus £5million in add-ons.

And King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - thinks this is a good bit of business for the North London club.

"For me, that fee sounds a little bit exaggerated," King said.

"He is a versatile player but he was never exactly a first-team regular in North London. Therefore, I think Spurs will be delighted with that transfer.

"Before that move was confirmed I thought he would go for a fee of around £8million with add-ons. As a result, that is a really good deal."

Tottenham to be delighted as Oliver Skipp joins Leicester City

It would be difficult for even the most pessimistic of Spurs supporters to complain about this deal.

Skipp was a boyhood Tottenham player who demonstrated moments of quality throughout the years. However, it had been pretty clear for some time that he might struggle to become a first-team regular with the club.

Therefore, a transfer seemed like the best solution for both the 23-year-old and Spurs.

And considering his lack of regular game time last season, Spurs will feel as though the £20million fee agreed was a better deal for them than Leicester.
