Tottenham can afford to match the demands of Lille midfielder Angel Gomes, Dan Plumley has said.

Daniel Levy is said to be fronting negotiations for the England international, who is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, demanding £150,000-a-week from his next club [Give Me Sport].

Plumley, a football finance expert, admitted that any move is now down to Levy in negotiations, with Spurs in the group of clubs that can afford it.

"From an affordability point of view, they are in that group of clubs that can afford to stretch to those kinds of wages," he exclusively told Tottenham News.

"We're already starting to see the additional revenue generated from the stadium in the matchday income and that will impact the overall revenue line in years to come.

Tottenham to sign Angel Gomes?

"So, affordability is not an issue for Spurs, it's whether or not they want to pay that kind of money and that ultimately comes down to Daniel Levy and the transfer negotiations."

Levy is known to be a hard negotiator and isn't afraid of making the big calls in North London.

January will be the time to either back Ange Postecoglou or make it clear that it's time to stick just in case the worst happens before the end of the season.

Spurs are currently 10th in the Premier League, only three points behind Arsenal and Champions League football, so a big decision is on the horizon.
