Thomas Frank may still hold frustration towards the hierarchy at Tottenham despite a largely positive summer window.

The Lilywhites added eight new signings to their squad over the summer, with the new boss having overseen the necessary overhaul to the options at his disposal.

The big-money arrivals of Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons were the highlights of Spurs' business, as both arrived for fees in excess of £50million.

However, despite the big spending, Frank may not be entirely happy with the business that took place.

Thomas Frank will be 'upset' by failure to sell Manor Solomon

Manor Solomon eventually left Tottenham in the latter stages of deadline day, as he joined Villarreal on a season-long loan.

The forward has hardly featured for the Lilywhites since he arrived two years ago, and he had been heavily linked with a permanent departure throughout the summer, with an increased amount of gametime high on his list of priorities.

Solomon spent a large part of pre-season sidelined through injury, and a loan exit was ultimately the only avenue that remained open to the North Londoners in the days before the deadline.

  • Solomon notched 23 goal contributions during his loan spell with Leeds United last term
  • He has made just five competitive appearances for Spurs since joining in 2023
  • Solomon was named on the bench in Tottenham's recent defeat to Bournemouth

However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - believes that the failure from the likes of Daniel Levy and Johan Lange to find a permanent suitor for the Israel international will have left Frank frustrated.

“You don’t want a player at your club who isn’t happy," King said.

"He isn’t going to be part of Frank’s plans for the future, and I would imagine he will be a little bit upset that Tottenham haven’t been able to sell him.

“The Bryan Gil sale for £8m isn’t going to write off the £52m for Simons."

Tottenham should propose Manor Solomon sale in January

Solomon may only be away from Tottenham on loan at the moment, but it could potentially suit all parties to turn his move to Villarreal into a permanent one in January.

If the former Fulham star makes a bright start to life in La Liga, then the Yellow Submarine will surely be keen to retain his services for a longer period.

It feels highly unlikely that the 26-year-old will have any sort of future in North London, so it would definitely be in Spurs' interests to sell.

Frank may have been left aggrieved on this occasion, but he could yet get his wish in January.
