Thomas Frank already faces a huge Archie Gray decision at Tottenham.

Gray has become a fan favourite since he joined Tottenham from Leeds United last summer.

The versatile midfielder showed potential under Ange Postecoglou and was rewarded with 19 starts in the Premier League this season.

However, Gray could become a problem for Frank before the Dane has even settled in at Hotspur Way.

Gray shines at right-back for England Under-21s

Gray started for England as the Young Lions kicked off the defence of their UEFA Under-21s European Championship title with a 3-1 victory against Czechia on Thursday (12 June).

The youngster was deployed at right-back in Lee Carsley's 4-3-3 formation and completed the full 90 at the DAC Arena in Dunajska Streda.

Furthermore, the 19-year-old won four out of six ground duels, made three tackles, two interceptions and one clearance. In addition, Gray was dribbled past zero times and did not commit a single foul.

However, he did lose possession of the ball five times and was offside once.

His performance for the England Under-21s now means Frank faces his first major headache in deciding if Gray should play as a full-back or in his natural midfield position.

It has been suggested that the Dane made up his mind long before he stepped foot into the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

As reported in The Athletic (13 June), Frank was desperate to sign Gray at Brentford, with the Bees considering him a sensational defensive midfield talent.

The West London club were in negotiations for the youngster, but were beaten to the punch by Tottenham.

Gray could have a big part to play next season at Tottenham

The fact that Frank has more or less given Gray his sign of approval is a huge boost for the England youth international going forward.

Tottenham fans could see him pick up more gametime both in the Premier League and in Europe. Therefore, there is every chance that Gray taps into his true potential under Frank.

However, the new Spurs boss must first decide what Gray's best position is.
