John Wenham has named Southampton as a possible loan destination for Tottenham youngster Archie Gray in January.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose thinks the 18-year-old would need to join a club where he is going to be playing every minute if we were to leave temporarily.

However, Wenham - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - doesn't think anything will materialise.

“It would have to be a club where he will be playing every minute,” Wenham said.

“Somewhere like Southampton could be a possible destination in January. However, he is also playing a decent amount of football at Tottenham.

“Therefore, I don’t see him leaving on loan because he is already establishing himself within the squad quite well.”

Archie Gray to exit Tottenham on loan in January?

The ex-Leeds United ace has so far played every minute of Spurs' UEFA Europa League campaign this season and would expect to continue doing so. Therefore, should he remain in North London all season, he will likely still play a lot of first-team football.

However, if he were to join Southampton, he would likely gain much more Premier League experience, which would also be beneficial.

Ultimately, the final decision should be up to Ange Postecoglou.

If he feels there is space for Gray in his squad, the Englishman should remain at the club. However, if Postecoglou feels as though a loan move away would be beneficial, that is what should happen.
