Sevilla blasted as Spanish club begin transfer negotiations for Tottenham sensation Archie Gray

John Wenham doesn't think Tottenham will consider loaning any more players to Sevilla after Alejo Véliz's struggles with the Spanish club last season.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose was unhappy with how Véliz was treated on loan at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium during the second half of the 2023/24 campaign.

Véliz played just 31 minutes of football with Sevilla.

However, Wenham - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - doesn't think the La Liga club can afford a deal.

“After the way Véliz was treated, I don’t see us loaning any more players to Sevilla,” Wenham said.

“I also doubt that they’ll be able to afford Gray’s £75,000 weekly wage. In addition, it looks as though Gray will continue to feature quite heavily in the UEFA Europa League.

“Therefore, I don’t think there is any chance of this move happening.”

Archie Gray to leave Tottenham on loan and join Sevilla in January?

Gray has featured frequently in the Europa League this season for Spurs. Therefore, it is hard to see the North London side allowing the talented youngster to leave in January.

While minutes might be harder to come by for Gray should Spurs reach the latter stages of the European competition, Ange Postecoglou will likely still be keen to keep the England youth international around.

He won't want to stagnate Gray's development by sending him to a club where he might not play.

And after Véliz's struggles with Sevilla, it would be unwise for Tottenham to once again put the development of one of their young stars in the Spanish club's hands.
