Ange Postecoglou will be sweating over the extent of Radu Drăgușin's injury at Tottenham.

Postecoglou was able to welcome Micky van de Ven back in the 3-0 UEFA Europa League win over IF Elfsborg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (30 January), although some fans blasted the Australian's decision to start the Dutchman.

However, just as one defender returned, another was sidelined as Drăgușin picked up what looked like a "serious" knee injury after coming on at half-time.

As reported by The Telegraph (1 February), there are fears that the Romanian could miss the majority of what is left of the season. However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - has suggested that Drăgușin could even be ruled out for a minimum of six months.

"Drăgușin ended up getting himself injured in an innocuous position on the pitch," King said.

"It was a silly challenge as far as I was concerned. An unnecessary challenge considering where he was on the pitch. However, those knee injuries are never fun, I know how he feels.

"If he is injured his ACL, he is looking at six months on the sidelines, minimum."

Tottenham defender Radu Drăgușin to be sidelined for six months?

Postecoglou has lost more or less each of his first-team players to injury at one point or another this season, and remains without a host of those players.

Although van de Ven is available again, Cristian Romero looks no closer to returning, and with Drăgușin now injured, the club must bring in new defenders between now and 3 February.

And if Drăgușin is to be ruled out for six months, Tottenham might have to start thinking about a more long-term replacement, rather than a short-term fix.
