Ange Postecoglou has dropped Dejan Kulusevski and Son Heung-min for the clash with Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs are searching for their fourth Premier League win on the bounce as they take on Pep Guardiola's side in North London on Wednesday (26 February).

Paul Merson will have delighted Spurs supporters after sharing his thoughts ahead of the clash.

However, any optimism among Spurs supporters is likely to have taken a hit after Postecoglou confirmed his starting lineup for the clash.

Son and Kulusevski miss out for Tottenham v Man City

As first called by John Wenham via Tottenham News, Kulusevski has been left out, with James Maddison coming in for the Swede.

Meanwhile, Postecoglou has made the rare decision to drop Son despite his positive performance in the 4-1 Premier League win over Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Saturday (22 February).

As well as his two assists, the 32-year-old completed 78 per cent of his passes, with three of those key, and provided an accurate cross into the box against the Tractor Boys [Sofascore].

Wilson Odobert comes in for Son, while Djed Spence is also rested as Pedro Porro returns to the team.

Tottenham should feel confident v Man City

Despite Postecoglou's rather risky team selection, Spurs supporters should still feel confident of victory against Manchester City on Wednesday.

Guardiola's side have been nothing like their usual selves this season, and Spurs often beat City when they're at their best, especially at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Therefore, with Postecoglou's side finding a bit of form, they will fancy their chances against a City team low on confidence.

Erling Haaland's return is no doubt a boost for the visitors. However, just like City, the striker hasn't been at his usual best in recent weeks, and won't be as feared as he usually is.

And while Son and Kulusevski start on the bench, they could both be introduced in the second half, which could make a big difference in the closing stages of the match.
