Ange Postecoglou is still at serious risk of being sacked by Daniel Levy, despite Tottenham beating Southampton on Sunday.

Spurs beat Southampton 3-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 6 April to confirm the Saints' relegation from the Premier League.

It was a match which wasn't short of talking points, with Richard Keys raging at one unacceptable incident.

However, with little left to compete for in the Premier League, and considering how poor Southampton were, Postecoglou's hopes of keeping his job are unlikely to have been boosted much by this win, and it seems as though it could now be a matter of time until the Australian is sacked.

Tottenham players 'have given up on Postecoglou'

Levy could soon decide to part ways with Postecoglou.

The 62-year-old is under pressure himself, with supporters protesting against the Tottenham chairman ahead of kick-off on Sunday.

However, ultimately, it will be Levy who makes the final decision on what happens with Postecoglou, and ex-Spurs scout Bryan King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - thinks the players have given up on their manager.

"I don't have many thoughts after that match," King said.

"Again, it was a changed team from the defeat against Chelsea. You need players to be confident. However, I'm not sure the players are confident.

"It looks like they don't want to play for Postecoglou. There were 60,000 people in attendance watching that football match. However, there was no urgency, passion or desire from the Tottenham players.

"Southampton are a poor team and Spurs did not beat them as convincingly as I thought they should have done. It could've been five or six on another day, it was too easy for Tottenham."

Postecoglou needs to win the UEFA Europa League at Tottenham

It appears as though the only way Postecoglou might keep his job is by winning the UEFA Europa League and ending the 17-year trophy drought at Tottenham.

Therefore, with the first leg of their last-eight tie against Eintracht Frankfurt coming up at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (10 April), Postecoglou will hope the win against Southampton has lifted the confidence of his players ever so slightly.
