Thomas Frank's job at Tottenham is far from safe, and Michael Carrick has been tipped as a candidate to take over.
With the club currently sitting in 14th, with more losses than wins, it is no surprise that Frank's future is in doubt.
Former Brentford defender Ben Mee is backing Frank to still be a Tottenham success, though the latest odds suggest six contenders would be in line to replace Frank and while Carrick is not listed, he could be a good appointment.
Carrick, a former Spurs player, is currently managing another of his previous employers, Manchester United, and so far, he has done a stellar job.
The former England international has managed two games since being appointed on an interim basis and has picked up two impressive wins against title challengers Manchester City and Arsenal.
Now, that record, if it continues, could put him in the running to take over at N17, according to a Premier League legend.
Michael Carrick has been linked with the Spurs job in the past, so it is not too surprising to see him being mentioned again.
When Ange Postecoglou was sacked, Carrick emerged as a candidate, and more recently, it was reported Spurs had sounded him out as a Frank replacement before he took over at Old Trafford.
Since then, his first two results for Manchester United have certainly impressed many, with two former Red Devils icons tipping him for a big role after this season.
On The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, Nicky Butt stated, "His next job, if he wants to stay in football as a manager for another club, would be a good job if he does well here."
Meanwhile, Paul Scholes said: "It could be like a Tottenham manager from this [for Carrick]. It wouldn’t surprise me."
While Spurs do not currently have plans to sack Frank, if results do not improve and the club are thrown into a relegation battle, they may be forced to do so, according to Football Insider.
If that is to be the case, the likelihood of Carrick taking the job would certainly dwindle, unless the London club follows the Red Devils' plan of appointing an interim manager for the final few months of the current campaign.
Even though it would be a permanent role for Carrick, there would be a slim chance of him leaving his temporary role before the end of the season.
Additionally, the Lilywhites would likely have to fork out a fee to break him from his current contract.
So far early signs are that the current Man United head coach is able to compete with the very best in the Premier League, and if Spurs are in the market to replace Frank come the end of the season, it could be a shrewd appointment.
Currently, it seems hard to see how Frank stays beyond this season.
