Kudus fortunate to escape punishment over West Ham United v Tottenham incident

Tottenham's underwhelming Premier League form continued on Sunday with a 1-1 draw against West Ham United.

Ange Postecoglou made mass changes with the Europa League semi-final second leg with Bodo/Glimt in mind.

Wilson Odobert gave Tottenham the lead at the London Stadium, but Jarrod Bowen did not take too long to respond for the hosts.

The 1-1 draw with West Ham means Tottenham remain 16th in the Premier League after taking just that one point from their past four matches.

Mohammed Kudus played the full 90 minutes for West Ham, but he can perhaps consider himself fortunate not to have been sent off.

The Ghana international was already on a yellow card when he backed his body into Djed Spence, who was in the air and then landed awkwardly.

Tottenham's players felt it was worthy of a yellow card, which former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett agrees could easily have been the case.

"It's a challenge that could easily been interpreted as reckless," Hackett exclusively told Tottenham News.

"The player can consider himself fortunate not to have received a yellow card in this instance. It is more than a little careless."

Drawing away at London rivals West Ham is not the worst result in the world, especially when fielding a weakened side.

However, the Hammers have been pretty dreadful this season and were there for the taking after Spurs went in front.

As it is, it was another disappointing outcome as Spurs continue to struggle domestically.

As we have known for a while, though, all the eggs are in the Europa League basket, and this week's trip to Norway really is massive for everyone associated with Spurs.

But even a victory in that match, and then against likely opponents Manchester United in the final, is still unlikely to be enough to save Ange Postecoglou from the Tottenham sack.
