Bryan King has ripped into Guglielmo Vicario after the Tottenham goalkeeper was spotted shouting at midfielder Lucas Bergvall against Leicester City.

The ex-Spurs scout believes Ange Postecoglou should have words with the 27-year-old.

Vicario was seen scolding second-half substitute Bergvall after being forced into a save following a mistake from the midfielder during Spurs' 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium on Monday (19 August).

But King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - was not impressed by how the Italy international handled the situation.

"I didn't like Vicario's attitude at times," King said.

"Bergvall made a mistake on the left-hand side and Vicario then made a simple save look ten times harder than it was.

"He then gets up and blasts an 18-year-old in his Premier League debut match. I mean come on, you're meant to be teammates, aren't you?

"I didn't like that at all. If he wants to start throwing his arms around maybe he should throw his arms toward crosses and start dealing with them. This is a young player in his first Premier League experience, he made a mistake, fine.

"There were plenty more mistakes on that pitch which warranted less of a reaction than Vicario's response to Bergvall's mistake. Therefore, if I was Postecoglou I would've pulled Vicario up for that."

Ange Postecoglou to have words with Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario?

Opinions among supporters are likely to be split on this particular situation.

Some might argue that if Bergvall can play for Spurs then the Swede should be treated as any of his teammates would be treated.

However, others might suggest that the reaction was over the top and unnecessary considering it was the youngster's first taste of Premier League football.

Either way, Postecoglou will need to make sure that this is put to bed and a long-term problem doesn't arise between the two players.
