Jack Grealish has long been linked with a move to Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

The Manchester City winger has fallen out of favour at the Etihad after struggling with form.

As a result, Tottenham are looking to sign Grealish as a means to improve their attacking options.

Now, Spurs have received a potential boost in their pursuit of the England international.

Tottenham second favourites to sign Grealish after Club World Cup announcement

While Tottenham look to finalise a deal for Thomas Frank, Daniel Levy is continuing to track potential signings.

It is believed that Grealish will cost Spurs £50million. However, his valuation may have now dipped after the Manchester club’s recent announcement.

Man City’s official website confirmed on Wednesday (11 June) that Grealish would not be part of the squad heading to the Club World Cup this summer.

This has heightened speculation that the England international will be leaving Pep Guardiola’s side during the transfer window.

As a result Tottenham's odds of signing Grealish have plummeted to just 4/1 with BetMGM (11 June), making them the third favourites for his signature behind Everton and Bayer Leverkusen.

Signing Grealish would be a mistake for Tottenham

As it stands, Grealish is hopelessly out of form and was rightly excluded from Man City’s Club World Cup squad.

Tottenham simply cannot afford to take a risk on the winger as he would be an extremely expensive acquisition if signed permanently.

Grealish struggled to make an impact this season

On top of this, at 29 years old, Grealish is coming to the end of his peak and is unlikely to be able to play at the top level for much longer.

Spurs simply need to avoid signing the England international and instead focus on bringing in more in-form wingers to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium who would likely cost less.
