Mohammed Kudus is no doubt one of the most in-form players in the Premier League at the moment at Tottenham.

Thomas Frank is truly getting the best out of the winger, who has shone since he signed from West Ham in the summer.

Just before the international break, Kudus was excellent for Tottenham as he netted one and picked up an assist against Leeds.

Now, the winger has continued his form for his country, with Kudus impressing for Ghana on Wednesday.

However, the African side’s form has only been a recent revelation.

John Wenham: Questions need to be asked on how Ghana didn’t qualify for AFCON

While Ghana may be on the verge of qualifying for the World Cup, they weren’t so lucky for the upcoming AFCON tournament later this year.

During the qualification, the African side failed to pick up a single victory, finishing bottom of their group that contained Angola, Sudan and Niger.

Given the fact that Kudus has been excellent for Tottenham, and Antoine Semenyo has been on fire in the Premier League this season, it begs the question of how this happened.

Now, talking exclusively to Tottenham Hotspur News, John Wenham has slammed Ghana for letting this happen.

  • Kudus has had a great start at Tottenham
  • The winger has quickly established himself as star player under Frank
  • Before the international break, Kudus picked up a goal and a assist in a 2-1 victory over Leeds

“Ghana, who have always qualified for AFCON and would be one of the favourites of the tournament, bizarrely, haven't qualified,” Wenham said.

“But when you consider that the front three for Ghana would consist of Kudus on the right and Antoine Semenyo on the left, I mean, what a disgrace that they're not there.

“Serious questions have to be asked of the sort of Ghanaian Football Association to not be at the tournament with those two players, who would be two of the best players and two of the most informed players at the tournament, full stop.

“I can't comprehend that Ghana, who have always been there and always been one of the favourites, are not there when they've got two of the most informed players in the Premier League right now on either wing, and they should be one of the favourites to win that tournament, and they're not even there. I find that incredibly strange.”

Which Tottenham players could be called up to AFCON?

While Kudus will not be going to AFCON later this season, Frank will have to be without Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma if they are called up to the squad.

Sarr is a Senegal international, with the West African nation being one of the favourites to win the tournament.

In comparison, Bissouma plays for Mali and will be hoping to have a good tournament as well.

Therefore, Frank will have to make plans on how Spurs are going to combat the potential absence of the duo if they are to depart for international duty.
