Ellis Lehane 'could make Tottenham debut v Liverpool' after what Spurs gem did

Ange Postecoglou has a golden opportunity to hand Ellis Lehane his debut for Tottenham against Liverpool on Sunday.

Spurs will travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool on 27 April, with the Reds set to win the Premier League title as long as they avoid defeat against Postecoglou's side.

However, with Spurs sitting 16th in the Premier League, and the first leg of their UEFA Europa League semi-final against Bodø/Glimt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium scheduled for Thursday (1 May), the visitors are unlikely to have much interest in their clash with Liverpool.

As a result, Postecoglou is expected to make changes, and the Australian could take this opportunity to hand Premier League experience to some of Spurs' more talented youngsters, with Lehane proving on Saturday (26 April) why he deserves a chance.

Lehane shines as Tottenham U18s thrash Leicester City U18s

Spurs might have struggled at first-team level this season, however, the Under-18s have been flying, with Luca Williams-Barnett making a big impact in particular.

And Stuart Lewis' side recorded perhaps their most impressive result of the season on Saturday as they thrashed Leicester City's Under-18s 7-0 away from home in the Under-18 Premier League South.

Spurs have played fewer matches than their rivals near the top of the Under-18 Premier League South

As many would have expected, Williams-Barnett was once again on the scoresheet. However, it was Lehane who stole the headlines by grabbing a hat-trick in the East Midlands.

It means Lehane has now netted 11 goals in 17 Under-18 Premier League South appearances this season, as the striker continues to demonstrate his extraordinary potential.

Lehane should make the matchday squad for Tottenham v Liverpool

Postecoglou needs his key players rested for the Europa League. Therefore, bringing in a few academy gems against Liverpool couldn't hurt.

Lehane and his teammates are already in the East Midlands. As a result, they could travel up to Merseyside on Saturday night and feature on the bench for Spurs at Anfield.

Should that happen, Lehane could be handed his debut for Tottenham against Liverpool, which could go a long way in convincing the 18-year-old to agree on a new contract in North London.
