Jamie Donley will feel he has done everything in his power to convince Ange Postecoglou to give him a spot in the Tottenham first team.

The 21-year-old, who has mainly played as an attacking midfielder for Leyton Orient, has notched one goal and three assists since joining the League One outfit in the summer.

He has been an ever-present in Spurs' academy, boasting eight goals and 17 assists across the Premier League 2, EFL Trophy and the Premier League 2 play-offs last season.

Donley was finally given the opportunity to prove himself away from the Hotspur Stadium but still within watching distance as he made the short trip across to the Gaughan Group Stadium.

Since then, the O's manager has done nothing but praise the young forward, saying [via Lilywhite Rose's X]: "I look at Jamie Donley now and he is just growing. He is turning from a young boy into a developing, into a man.

“I have watched him in the 21s, and I have seen him play slide-in balls, I have seen him get goals, I have seen him get countless assists.

Jamie Donley to earn first-team Tottenham chance under Ange?

“His position on the pitch, his second balls, when to hook it on, when to head it, when to bring it down, when to play one and two-touch. His decision-making is coming on.”

Richie Wellens went as far as stating he would like to make Donley's loan permanent but admitted this was highly unlikely, given Spurs' stance on his future in North London.

This, however, should only provide excitement for Ange Postecoglou, who would be a fool not to integrate the 21-year-old into the first-team set-up once he returns.

He already has four senior appearances to his name for the Lilywhites, and if Wellens' words are anything to go by, it won't be long until those four games are just rookie numbers for him.
