Bryan King has backed Daniel Levy to retain control should Amanda Staveley make any investment into Tottenham.

The ex-Spurs scout can't see Staveley or any potential investors buying "a large percentage" of the North London club.

According to a source close to the deal, “Amanda is serious about being involved with Spurs, and is hoping that an initial purchase can be completed within weeks.”

However, King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - doesn't think any potential investment will have a big impact on Levy.

"It all depends on whether the investment is needed," King said.

"Levy must think that it is. However, what is the percentage of the club that they're going to buy? I can't imagine it being a large percentage because Levy will want to retain control.

"The investment will probably take pressure off payments for the ground and stabilise that position."

Daniel Levy to remain in charge amid fresh investment at Tottenham

Any investment will of course open the door to a potential takeover. However, that all depends on how much of the club ENIC are willing to relinquish.

Levy himself has investment within Tottenham. Therefore, he will have a big say in what happens regarding the ownership of the club going forward.

It looks as if Staveley could soon become involved with Spurs, something which King has warned the North London club against.

However, whether that has a big impact on the ownership structure remains to be seen.
