Dane Scarlett is continuing to prove that he deserves a first-team opportunity at Tottenham.

After a difficult start to life at Oxford United following his loan switch to the Championship side earlier this season, Scarlett has begun to turn things around at the Kassam Stadium in recent weeks.

The 20-year-old has three goals in his last six matches in the Championship, with the striker starting four of those six matches.

As a result, Ange Postecoglou is likely to have taken notice, and Scarlett has once again sent the Spurs boss a message, this time on the international stage.

While in action for England's Under-21s in their 1-1 draw with Netherlands's Under-21s at Yanmar Stadion on Monday (18 November), Scarlett opened the scoring for the Young Lions after just five minutes.

As per England's official account on X (18 November), the on-loan Spurs forward scored a "stunning" diving header to put his nation in front.

And while Scarlett's goal was eventually cancelled out, it was still a big moment for the youngster.

Scarlett will need to compete with Dominic Solanke, Richarlison and Will Lankshear if he wants to play first-team football in North London next season.

However, with the club being urged to sell Richarlison after yet more frustration, and Lankshear still only 19 years old, there could yet be a chance for Scarlett to make a name for himself.

Many supporters will likely view Lankshear as the new, exciting, up-and-coming striker, especially after what he did recently. However, it is worth remembering that Scarlett isn't much older than Lankshear, he has just been around a lot longer.

As a result, there is still plenty of time for the England youth international to make it at Tottenham.

There is still a long way left to go this season. Therefore, if Scarlett can continue to find the back of the net consistently between now and May, Postecoglou might have no choice but to take a closer look at him.
