Cristian Romero 'aims subtle dig at Tottenham' after behind-the-scenes crisis

Cristian Romero appears to have aimed a subtle dig at the Tottenham staff after he made his return from injury against Bournemouth.

Ange Postecoglou was able to name Romero in a Spurs starting lineup for the first time in three months for the 2-2 Premier League draw with Bournemouth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (9 March).

However, the Tottenham defender had an afternoon to forget.

Jamie Carragher tore into Romero after his lacklustre display in North London, which saw the defender almost give a goal away just minutes into his return to action.

As a result, Tottenham fans have urged the club to get rid of Romero for free, and the 26-year-old has acknowledged he wasn't at his best against the Cherries in a social media post.

However, he also appears to have aimed a subtle dig at the Tottenham staff in that same post.

Romero aims a dig at Tottenham medical team

Spurs were arguably lucky to claim a point against Bournemouth, and Romero wasn't the only Tottenham player who let himself down on Sunday.

However, the centre-back has ensured fans that he and his teammates will turn things around.

In a post to Instagram after full time (9 March), Romero wrote, "After a difficult period full of things that happened in the middle, I am back with the group and happy to be able to help the team.

"There is certainly a lot to correct and work on, but we are together and eager to turn this situation around. See you on Thursday, we will come back stronger than ever, all together Spurs.

"Thankful to the physiotherapists of Argentina for getting me out of a bad moment and for putting me back on the field where I am so happy. Thank you all for the support always".

Romero sends a clear message to Tottenham

Postecoglou's side have strugled this season, and the Australian is at risk of being sacked by Daniel Levy as a result. However, it is fair to say that a lot of the club's struggles have been as a result of the injury issues which has plagued the Spurs squad in North London.

By thanking the Argentina physios, but not the Spurs ones, Romero is implying that the medical team in North London perhaps arent to scratch, which is unlikely to go down well behind the scenes.

However, with all the injury issues and setbacks, the World Cup winner might have a point.
