Arsenal plan to use footage from a game involving Tottenham earlier this season to get Myles Lewis-Skelly's red card overturned, according to the Daily Mail.

Lewis-Skelly was dismissed for a challenge on Matt Doherty, much to the dismay of Arsenal's players and supporters as they went on to claim a 1-0 victory on Saturday (25 January).

However, Arsenal intend to appeal the decision and they will use an incident from Tottenham's win over Manchester United in September.

The Mail report via their online edition [27 January] that Arsenal chiefs reckon the red card shown to Bruno Fernandes and later rescinded is precedent for Lewis-Skelly's red being overturned.

Tottenham profited from Bruno Fernandes red card

As a reminder, Fernandes was red carded for a foul on James Maddison, with United successfully appealing that.

Lewis-Skelly, like Fernandes was, is facing a three-match ban if unsuccessful.

To put the rivalry aside for a moment, it did seem like a very harsh sending off on the face of it.

Tottenham have themselves been on the end of their fair share of pathetic calls this season, albeit the side's slump cannot be blamed entirely on that.

Spurs fans will care not one bit about this appeal. Instead, all they want is for Ange Postecoglou to turn things around in the other half of North London.
