Arsenal hijack Tottenham transfer for youth sensation as frustration emerges

John Wenham was left frustrated as Arsenal hijacked Tottenham's move for West Ham youth sensation Kyran Thompson.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose claims Thompson and his family are Arsenal fans.

And Wenham - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - doesn't think there was anything Spurs could do.

“It is frustrating,” Wenham said.

“I believe based on his social media, his family are Arsenal fans. Therefore, it is just an unfortunate one.

“If you’re a fan of one club, no matter how advanced talks are with another club, if the actual club you support swoops in then you’re going to sign for them, rather than their rivals.

“As a result, I think it was just an unlucky change of circumstances, but it is of course frustrating.”

Arsenal sign Kyran Thompson from West Ham ahead of Tottenham

Spurs seem to be keen on signing some of the most talented young players in the country. Therefore, losing out on Thompson would have come as a slight blow, especially losing out on him to Arsenal.

It is clear to see that the young player is talented if both Spurs and Arsenal wanted to sign him, and Postecoglou will be hopeful that losing out on this transfer doesn't come to haunt him.

However, for now, he won't be particularly concerned, as Thompson is likely a long way off the first team anyway, and things can change. In addition, Spurs already have some very talented young players on the books who they can now focus on instead.
