Bryan King believes the only thing which would prove Amanda Staveley's worth to Tottenham is if she helped the club appoint Pep Guardiola.
The ex-Spurs scout doesn't think a manager like Eddie Howe would be an impressive enough hire in North London.
As previously reported by the Mirror (28 September) Staveley is in "advanced talks" to invest in Tottenham.
That speculation only grew stronger after Staveley was spotted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (via Lilywhite Rose on X, 13 October) during the NFL match between the Chicago Bears and the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday (13 October).
According to Alan Nixon via Patreon (13 October), Newcastle United boss Howe would be a target for Staveley should she get into a position of power in North London.
However, King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - doesn't think the businesswomen should be worried about making any managerial changes at Spurs.
“Managing Newcastle, fine,” King said.
“However, can you tell me what Howe has won? They’ve qualified for the Champions League, that is it. I can’t see Howe being the solution to end Spurs’ trophy drought.
“I think the only thing that would prove her worth is if she brought Guardiola to the club. However, at this moment in time, the last thing she should be thinking about before even making any investment is changing the manager.”
Luring Guardiola to Tottenham seems like mission impossible. Therefore, if Staveley could help to do it, she would certainly become an instant hit among Spurs supporters.
The North London club have managed to appoint big-name managers such as José Mourinho and Antonio Conte in the past. As a result, Guardiola deciding to join Spurs once he leaves Manchester City isn't completely out of the realms of possibility.
However, it does seem unlikely, and it would also be rather harsh to sack Ange Postecoglou at this moment.
Nonetheless, speculation linking Howe with Spurs suggests pressure is on the Australian, who will want to start making some significant progress soon.
