Ange Postecoglou should consider handing Alfie Dorrington his debut for Tottenham against Ferencváros.

It has been a positive few weeks for Postecoglou and his players after a slow start to the season.

They recorded their fourth consecutive victory on Sunday (29 September), beating Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford in a match not short of controversy.

Spurs' third of those four straight wins saw the North London side get their UEFA Europa League campaign up and running with a 3-0 victory over Qarabağ FK at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (26 September).

However, that match left Postecoglou with a problem, as Radu Drăgușin was sent off inside the opening 10 minutes.

It didn't impact the club on the night, as they still kept a clean sheet and recorded three points. However, it does now mean the Romanian is suspended. Therefore, he won't be available for selection when Tottenham take on Ferencváros at the Groupama Arena on Thursday (3 October).

Postecoglou will no doubt rotate and could make as many as five changes, with the fixtures coming thick and fast. However, he is now rather limited at centre-back, an issue which Dorrington could help fix.

In an ideal world, Drăgușin would be starting against Ferencváros, which would allow either Cristian Romero or Micky van de Ven to receive a much-needed rest.

However, that is no longer possible, which means both centre-backs will likely have to start. Nonetheless, Postecoglou won't want both players to play the full 90 minutes.

Therefore, he could look to introduce Dorrington at some point during the contest for his Tottenham debut.

As per Spurs' official X account (2 October), Dorrington was spotted boarding the plane for the trip to Hungary. As a result, that might imply that Postecoglou is planning on using him.

While starting in a European fixture away from home might be a bit much for the 19-year-old on his debut, he could certainly come off the bench, especially if Spurs are winning comfortably.

That would allow Romero or van de Ven to get some rest while offering a perfect opportunity for an exciting young academy player to get some valuable first-team experience.
