Alejo Veliz tipped to leave Tottenham on loan to join Premier League club in summer transfer window

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson played 175 times for Tottenham between 2004 and 2008, winning the League Cup with Spurs in the 2007/08 season. Since hanging up his gloves in 2017, Robinson has moved into the world of punditry and can be regularly seen or heard on Sky Sports and BBC Radio 5 Live. Tottenham News is now delighted to present Robinson as part of its team of experts.

A loan move to the Premier League or Championship would be beneficial for Tottenham forward Alejo Veliz after a failed transfer to Sevilla this season, Paul Robinson has said.

The 20-year-old joined the La Liga outfit on a six-month loan during the winter transfer window but has made just three appearances since, struggling to break into the starting XI.

The former Spurs goalkeeper believes that a temporary transfer within the English divisions next season would be the right fit for the Argentine youngster, who is still adapting to the style of football.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Robinson said: "It depends on what the manager has in sight for his future. He's still only 20 years old but the loan at Sevilla has not gone well.

"If the manager is interested in integrating the player into the first-team squad further down the line, maybe a loan within the Premier League or the Championship would help the player's development.

"Obviously, we've not seen a lot of him. He's only made a handful of appearances for Tottenham, and we've not seen much of him in Seville. He's hardly got on the pitch so another loan seems like the right way forward, having not joined the club long ago.

"It depends on what the manager sees fit. But the move to Sevilla has not worked for anyone."

Where could Tottenham send Alejo Veliz next season?

While the Cherries have an exciting attacking set-up under Andoni Iraola, the likes of Dominic Solanke and Enes Unal could, once again, make it difficult for Veliz to gain valuable minutes on the pitch.

There is no doubt that the Argentine is a talented youngster, reminding some of Manchester City's Julian Alvarez, who arrived in England from River Plate and has thrived under Pep Guardiola.

Spurs fans will be hoping that Veliz can finally discover some form in England, with another loan move tipped for next season, and come back to the club with a new-found confidence in front of goal.
