Bryan King believes Tottenham will be looking for a fee of around £20million to let Giovani Lo Celso join Real Betis.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (28 August), Real Betis are pushing to re-sign Lo Celso. The midfielder has been a top target for the La Liga side since June, with negotiations now able to get underway as Nabil Fekir prepares to head to Qatar.

And King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - has discussed what kind of fee Spurs might be looking for.

"They won't get back what they paid for him, that is for sure," King said.

"I'd imagine Tottenham would be looking for around £20million. His wages will be quite big, which will reduce his transfer value, but Spurs will still want a decent fee for him.

"As I said, it won't be what they paid for him. However, a decent fee will be involved and it will be a chance for the club to get him off the wage bill."

Tottenham to sell Giovani Lo Celso to Real Betis?

Spurs aren't exactly in the strongest negotiation position when it comes to Lo Celso. The 28-year-old has just one year left on his contract in North London.

Therefore, Spurs need to get rid of him this summer or risk losing him for free this time next year.

Lo Celso doesn't appear to be in Ange Postecoglou's plans. As a result, the club will want to avoid paying a year's worth of big wages to a player sat on the bench, before then losing him for free.

He needs to go, and while the club might start negotiations at £20million, that price could quickly come down as the clock ticks nearer to 10 pm on Friday (30 August).
