Tottenham set for ‘huge boost’ as £40m Ivan Toney transfer update emerges

Bryan King claims Tottenham could agree a "bargain" transfer for Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

The ex-Spurs scout believes it would be a "huge boost" for the club if they were to sign the 28-year-old.

As reported by Give Me Sport (11 July), sources close to Tottenham feel they could yet make a serious push for Toney.

The longer it goes without any other club launching a bid, the better Spurs feel their chances are of landing Toney for close to the £40million mark.

And King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - has suggested that would be a fantastic bit of business.

“I think for Tottenham supporters it would be a huge boost,” King said.

“He is a current England international who scores goals in the Premier League. It would be a bit of an exceptional signing for the club.

“And for £40million it would be an absolute bargain, without a doubt.”

Tottenham to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney to play under Ange Postecoglou?

Ange Postecoglou needs a top-quality number nine in North London.

Richarlison has yet to prove that he is a consistent, reliable option in that positon, and Son Heung-min is arguably more effective on the left.

Postecoglou will want an out-and-out striker who can guarantee him 20-plus Premier League goals a season.

And Toney could perhaps be that man.

As a result, Daniel Levy should be looking to do all he can to bring the forward to North London.

Especially if he is available for £40million.
