Tottenham midfielder signs new long-term contract at Hotspur Way

Tottenham will welcome the signing of a new long-term contract after a difficult Premier League season.

Tottenham look likely to finish 17th in the Premier League after suffering their 21st defeat in the competition this season on Friday (16 May) as they were beaten 2-0 by Aston Villa at Villa Park.

The extent to which this will be remembered comes down to whether Ange Postecoglou can lead Spurs to victory against Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final at the Estadio de San Mamés on Wednesday (21 May).

Now, as anxieties begin to build and the chance to create history awaits, Tottenham supporters have something to celebrate while they wait for the special day to come.

Rio Kyerematen signs new long-term contract at Tottenham

Many wouldn't think that Tottenham are set to play a sixth European final in the club's history next week, considering the amount of negativity surrounding the Lilywhites.

This, in part, comes after several key injuries, including to midfield mestro James Maddison, which have cast doubts on whether Tottenham have the personnel to get over the line in the Europa League.

However, like most things in life, Spurs supporters should appreciate the small victories, and Kyerematen's new deal is surely one.

According to Lilywhite Rose (17 May), the midfielder has signed a new long-term contract with the club after existing terms were set to expire on 30 June.

Kyerematen should be loaned out by Tottenham

While preparations for next season will be the last thing on Postecoglou's mind, whose future at the North London club is in doubt, when things become a little clearer, Kyerematen should be loaned out for the new season.

The 19-year-old is a rare gem who can play in the midfield as well as in defence as a full-back.

With several injuries to the backline this season and a midfield that is becoming smaller by the day, Tottenham will need to start looking at their youth players in the future.

Additionally, known as a player who is reliable on the ball and uses it well, the youngster would slot perfectly into Postecoglou's side if given the opportunity.

But for now, young and inexperienced, he needs to begin his future away from Spurs in the hopes of securing a spot in the first team.
