John Wenham has backed Pedro Porro to sign a brand-new contract with Tottenham.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes Real Madrid will opt to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold as their new right-back.
Porro recently commented on speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid (via Fabrizio Romano, 9 October). However, Liverpool's Alexander-Arnold has also been linked with the La Liga giants (via The Guardian, 18 October).
And Wenham - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - thinks Madrid will opt to sign the latter.
“I don’t see Porro signing for Real Madrid,” Wenham said.
“They have an amazing opportunity to sign Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer. I could see Alexander-Arnold signing a pre-contract with Madrid in January.
“That gives him a chance to solidify himself as one of the greatest English players ever, while it would be a huge blow for Liverpool to lose him for free.
“Therefore, do I see anybody else offering £80million-plus for Porro? No, I don’t. As a result, I see Porro renewing his Tottenham contract and remaining with the club.”
Porro is only continuing to improve, something he demonstrated while featuring for Spain this month. As a result, it is no surprise that clubs, particularly the biggest Spanish clubs, will be interested in the defender.
However, it is unlikely that Real Madrid would sign both Alexander-Arnold and Porro. The Liverpool man could be a lot cheaper should he choose not to renew his contract at Anfield, which expires at the end of the season.
Therefore, it wouldn't be a surprise to see that transfer go through. Should that happen, it would be a big boost for Ange Postecoglou.
Few other clubs would be able to afford the big-money signing of Porro. Therefore, if a move to Real Madrid doesn't materialise, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the 25-year-old remain at Tottenham.
In other Tottenham news, the club would only accept a "ridiculous" offer for one exit-linked player in January.
