Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for their first season under new manager Thomas Frank.

The wide areas are certainly positions that Spurs are looking to address in the transfer window, with Jack Grealish being linked with a move to North London.

The Lilywhites are also pushing to sign West Ham star Mohammed Kudus, having a bid rejected by the Irons for the Ghanaian already.

Tottenham may need to act swiftly to sign Kudus, though, with Chelsea looking to hijack a deal.

Spurs to make improved bid after Kudus' intentions become clear

It is more of a matter of when and not if Kudus leaves West Ham in the summer.

The 24-year-old would be a long-term solution for Frank in the final third, with Son Heung-min ageing and past his best.

Kudus has already proved that he can thrive in the Premier League, even if his form did dip last season amid the Hammers' lacklustre campaign, making him a relatively safe investment.

Kudus had an exceptional first season in England.

The Scottish Daily Mail has reported in its print edition (9 July, pg 64) that Spurs are expected to make an improved bid for the West Ham forward later this week after their initial £50million offer was rejected.

Chelsea are also expected to make an improved bid for Kudus; however, he has made it clear that he wants to join Spurs.

The winger has a release clause of £85million, but with West Ham needing to cash in, Spurs are looking to compromise at around £65million.

Spurs must quickly secure Kudus' signature

Despite the player's desire to join the Lilywhites, Spurs cannot afford to delay putting an improved bid in, with Chelsea sniffing around Kudus.

Securing the tricky winger's services early in pre-season would be advantageous for Frank, as he prepares to bring more European silverware to N17, with the UEFA Super Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain scheduled for August.

If Tottenham were to sign another striker, this could make the prospect of playing for Spurs even more enticing for Kudus.

With Richarlison's Tottenham future uncertain, it would be an unrealistic expectation to think Dominic Solanke would be able to lead the line for a full campaign without receiving an injury or a dip in form.

After a disappointing spell in North London, it may be time for Spurs to move on from the Brazilian and sign another striker instead.

Hopefully, Kudus is just the beginning.
