Angel Gomes is one of Tottenham’s targets this summer after a successful spell at Lille.

The former Manchester United winger has impressed in Ligue 1 and is being eyed by Spurs as they look to reinforce their attack.

Tottenham have been linked to stars such as Leroy Sane and Jack Grealish, but Gomes is seen as a potential bargain.

The winger is now a free agent after his contract expired at Lille, but Spurs face competition for his signature.

Olympique Marseille reach verbal agreement to sign Tottenham target Angel Gomes

There had been speculation that suggested that Gomes wanted to join Tottenham after they secured qualification for the Champions League.

However, it now appears that both Premier League sides are going to miss out on the 24-year-old.

According to Fabrice Hawkins (6 June), Gomes has agreed a verbal three-year contract with French side Olympique Marseille.

The Ligue 1 side wants to finalise the deal this week, with Gomes preferring a move to the Orange Vélodrome over Spurs and West Ham.

The performances of Olympique Marseille as well as Champions League football are said to be the major factors in his decision.

Daniel Levy pays price for his indecisions

So far this summer, Levy’s indecisions have dominated the transfer window.

Ange Postecoglou is still rumoured to be sacked, but confirmation on his future is yet to happen.

This is likely affecting Spurs’ attraction in the market, with potential targets yet to know which manager they will be playing under.

Levy’s indecisions are sending Tottenham backwards, and the chairman will have no one to blame but himself if the London club has another slow start to the season.

Protests against Levy dominated the 2024/25 campaign, and as it stands, they are likely to continue next season.

Tottenham now need to quickly decide their long-term strategy or the London club could soon find themselves in a relegation battle.
